Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is the flagship hotel at Walt Disney World. It sits at the top of the Magic Kingdom monorail loop, it has white-gloved afternoon tea, it's where couples get engaged. The Polynesian Village Resort, next stop along that same monorail, is slightly more casual, slightly less formal, and — you'd assume — slightly cheaper.

The Numbers
Based on current pricing from Walt Disney World's booking site for a standard 1-night stay (2 adults), the Grand Floridian is cheaper than the Polynesian on a significant number of upcoming dates. Not by a small margin either:

On July 23rd, the Grand Floridian is $485 per night cheaper than the Polynesian for the same number of guests.
Why Does This Happen?
Disney uses dynamic pricing — rates shift based on demand, room inventory, and promotional offers. The Polynesian has extremely high demand for certain weeks, particularly mid-July when US families are still on summer break. Its prices spike accordingly. The Grand Floridian, despite being the "better" hotel by Disney's own positioning, doesn't always follow the same demand curve.
The result is that Disney's own pricing algorithm occasionally offers you the flagship resort for less than the resort it outranks.
What's the Grand Floridian's Average Price?
Across all upcoming dates we track, the Grand Floridian averages $866 per night (2 adults, 1 night). On the dates listed above, it's sitting at $569–$703 — 20 to 35% below its own average. These aren't obscure off-season dates either. Late July and August are peak summer.
The Polynesian averages $760 per night across our tracked dates. The dates where it spikes to $1,054 are well above that average — and the Grand Floridian isn't moving with it.
What They Actually Have in Common
Both resorts sit on the Magic Kingdom monorail loop. From either hotel, you board the monorail and arrive at Magic Kingdom in minutes — no buses, no queues for transport. Both have table-service restaurants, multiple pools, and easy boat access to the Transportation and Ticket Centre.
The Grand Floridian is larger, has more dining options (including Victoria & Albert's, Disney's most upscale restaurant), and has a formal Victorian theme. The Polynesian is more relaxed, with a Polynesian village feel and arguably better theming for families with young children.
Neither is objectively "better." They're different. Which makes the pricing gap on these dates even more striking.
